Life as an artist is like all life: complicated, privileged hard, messy, exhilarating, odd, completely unexplainable to most of your neighbors, and most of all, isolating.

But years of teaching have taught me that it is what enriches all life, to embrace the parts of our lives that are all those things and to make them lovely and productive. Miraculously, it turns out that your life as your art, the way you structure your world is as much as an art form as your art itself. This is my exploration of that process, which I offer to you, a fellow traveler creating a world separate, but not separated from my own.
